Most of our boats are built for fishing... it's safe to say this is the first Stabi we've built for surfing! Heading down to Torquay, this one gets beach launched with a tractor and driven up and down the Great Ocean Road along the back of the beaches, checking out the best breaks. It was built for comfort in mind; coming back to the boat after a winter surf to warm up with a hot pie enjoying the diesel heater and a shower. Hull options were injected foam pontoons, EVA flooring, diesel heater, rear doors, boarding ladder, full paint and electric motor bracket. We upgraded all wiring to take increased loads from accessories such as a fridge, and added fly by wire twin Suzuki 250s with hydraulic steering. The boat was then fitted to an Easytow trailer, and a pretty serious one at that; being a triple axle setup with torsion bars, 15" LC alloy rims, Dexter brake unit, S/S calipers, Boat Catch and a Sherpa 12V trailer winch with a wireless remote.
Whilst fishing options weren't really added, all the usual safety and navigation gear went on; including a Garmin GPSMap 8416, SS175HW 1kw transducer, Garmin radar, Garmin 115i VHF radio, compass, offshore safety kit with EPIRB, Hella lightbars, a custom laptop bench, a 60l freshwater tank with pump and hose to run a shower, and custom roof racks to hold the precious surfboards.
