Ben Pohlner was whiting fishing with Derek Burn inside the Warrnambool Harbour today, when they saw a small school of tuna sunning themselves, hardly moving, in about 3 metres of water. Ben cast a metal slug lure at the school on his 6kg outfit and after a nice chase around the harbour landed the fish pictured below. Where the photo was taken is where it was caught. Amazing!
Kev McLoughlin, fishing off Warrnambool with Ashley Dance and Marcus Pearson yesterday, landed a mako shark of 56kg in the Shipwreck Coast Fishing Classic, also tagging and releasing one of similar size, and a tiny blue shark. They also caught a few fish on the bottom.
Pictured below are some of the other fish weighed in last night, and the leaderboards after day 4 of the classic.
