The phenomenal 2014 South-West Vic tuna season continues… Ed took Rhooky out in the Seacruiser 7000HT off Port Fairy, heading out wide bottom fishing and while they only caught the one blue eye, with Paul Dumesny in his Seacruiser 7000HTD fishing nearby and catching a couple, on the way home they were greeted with some of the best tuna action they’ve encountered.  Birds, bait, and tuna everywhere in around 130m – they put their first 4 in one of the large kill tanks, smothered in our flake ice, and continued to catch another half dozen or so within an hour before continuing home and seeing them busting up from there into 50m depth.photo 3 photo 4

Jim Gauci and crew had a good day off Port Fairy, bagging out on tuna in 55m straight out.photo 1

Scotty Gray had a late start off Port Fairy today but got straight into the tuna.  Jason Russell reported having them busting up in 52m towards Julia Percy Island.  He ended up being surrounded by them for most of the day, unable to tempt any, while others fared better not too far away.
