The fine weather over the weekend saw plenty of anglers on the water all across the state. There were some nice tuna captures including this 59.6kg southern bluefin tuna by Hugh Johnstone at Portland on Sunday.

School bluefin tuna have been patchy, but have still provided some excellent fishing from as close as 43m off Port Fairy to the shelf. The number of small albacore has increased considerably over the past week with bag limit catches common over the past few days. Brandon Nattrass caught a nice bag of albacore and bluefin at Portland yesterday.

Further to the east of the state Brian Nolan landed a 140kg swordfish while fishing his mates. The fish was a great reward for effort. Super awesome!!
