There were plenty of reports this weekend from both fresh and salt. The most noteworthy catch this week is this cracking 8kg Chinook Salmon from lake Purrembete captured by Jason Castles. Both crater lakes have been fishing exceptional of late!
Offshore anglers have found some hot deep drop action over the last couple of weeks. Portland and Port Fairy have seen plenty of quality fish such as Blue eye and pink Ling up to 14kg. The Shelf has also been hot for large numbers of Small Albacore with plenty of Bluefin mixed in. Closer to shore, the Tuna remain patchy but anglers have still found fish hanging around the 50m and 80m lines. The winning fish from the comp at Portland this weekend was a 17.8kg fish caught by Steve Gurney.
Dylan Pace from The Tackle Shack had an odd encounter in the Hopkins River on the weekend when a 3kg Tench ate his soft plastic. Dylan has also been finding plenty of bream to 1.8kg in the rivers.
