Plenty still going during the week. Offshore winds, calming seas and good tides have made beach fishing an option for anglers chasing Australian salmon. Tom Fox from Richardson Marine headed out for a quick fish locally after work yesterday and caught a good bag of fish casting metal lures during the last half an hour before dark to 1.5kg.
Christian ‘Doc’ Hughes headed out bottom fishing in 60m of water off Port Fairy before the wind got up and drifted and flicked a few microjigs for a mixed bag of sea perch, cod and latchet. He also missed a good shark bite on an unweighted couta out the back.
Mick Manhey ran into this solid mulloway in the Hopkins River. The fishing has been tough, but persistence is paying off for anglers putting in the time! The fish was caught on a soft plastic.
