With less than ideal conditions on the weekend, Trout were the highlight for most Anglers. The South West rivers saw some quality fish up and over the 5lb mark getting around the lower Merri for those fishing tight on the edges. Lake Bolac and Tooliorook produced some quality Rainbows with fish over the 4lb mark becoming much more common now. The big Brown Trout have also been showing up in Lake Purrembete. While not in huge numbers, fish to 10lb have been coming consistently enough to make putting time in on the lake well worth it. Tim Beusmans fished the lake over the weekend where he caught this huge hen. With the rivers high and slowly dropping, we should see a spectacular open season in the South West this weekend. School Sharks have been a great target for many at the moment. Salty Dog Charters has had some good success landing some solid sharks, including this absolute horse.
