With some great conditions over the weekend, many anglers took advantage of the killer offshore fishing on offer. Down at Portland multiple Barrels up to and over 120kg were lost, landed and tagged. Its great to see this later run of fish showing up which have been typical for the past few seasons now. Some killer conditions have been forecasted for this week, so no doubt more reports should bein to come through.
Port Fairy saw plenty of anglers fishing out wide in the 80-140m depth where the bottom fishing has been fantastic. Salty Dog Charters had a killer weekend with plenty of Shark, Snapper, Knife Jaw and even some Tassie Trumpeter making an appearance in mixed bags.
Down Torquay way, plenty of Snapper and Gummies have been chewing on the offshore reefs and rubble beds. The boys from Surfcoast Anglers had a great weekend with gummies up to 15kg and snapper to 7.3kg showing up.
The estuaries have been clearing up all over the district and the Bream and EP’s have been on the chew for those throwing hardbodies and soft plastics. Dylan Pace and Charlie Saykao had a killer session yesterday with countless large Estuary Perch and Bream slamming Daiwa Double Clutches and Spikes. The highlight of the session was this monster 50cm, 2.07kg Australian Bass that Charlie managed to land on 3lb leader! While not a very common fish, the past year has seen the odd Bass show up within the Hopkins.
