The Trout fishing in the Hopkins and Merri Rivers has been phenomenal over the last week. The fish have been chewing hard due to the current rise in flow, making for some really exciting and rewarding fishing. Tackle Shack staff member Dyl Pace put in multiple sessions during the week and caught plenty of fish up to 4.5lb from both river systems. Plastics such as the Berkley T-tail Minnows accounted for the bulk of fish, while Hardbodies such as Rapala X-Rap06’s and Daiwa Double Clutch’s were the standout Hards. Remember all reaches of the Hopkins and Merri are now exempt from the Victorian Trout closed season, so get out and make the most of our first class river fisheries.
