The Richardson Marine Christmas party was one to remember yesterday, with the team all jumping aboard the Seacruiser 7000HT and heading out to the shelf off Warrnambool for a bit of deep sea bottom fishing, and we talked Ed into letting us take some shark berley blocks to try and raise a mako as well. A very nice mako came on the scene very early on so a bait was sent out. It took it immediately, jumped twice then spat the hook. Second time round though it finally took another bait and this time Matt on the 15kg outfit had it well hooked. It jumped three times then settled in for the battle, which took a good 2 hours to get it to the boat… and then the fun started! Some interesting moments involved in getting it aboard, and it pulled the Warrnambool Offshore & Light Game Fishing Club scales down to 180.0kg. Thanks Ashley Dance for coming down to do the weigh-in. We only had time for a handful of bottom drops, adding a nice blue-eye trevalla and 3 pink ling to the esky.
Peter Goode went out wide as well with Jan, catching a couple of pink ling to 4.5kg, plus a blue-eye and blue grenadier
Kev and Cameron caught a few different species off the bottom out deep from Port Fairy, the long one is a frost fish.
Johnno managed this 14kg gummy in 50m off Port Fairy.
