Today saw most boats go fishless in the morning but for those that persisted the afternoon produced a few nice fish. Richo caught a nice snapper of about 5kg down to the east off Warrnambool amongst a few other smaller table fish, and down the same direction Al Sharpe and Clayton Smith caught a couple of gummies, the biggest going 22kg. The odd big snapper has been brought in throughout the weekend along with a few other big gummies and schoolies.
On Cassius Cray a few exploratory trips out at the shelf off Warrnambool finally paid dividends as today we found some blue-eye, the 2 biggest going 7.45kg and 6.3kg and another 5 or so about half this size. A nice feed to justify the miles travelled to find them. Very much helped by the Garmin 751xs sounder using the latest CHIRP technology. The fuel efficiency of the Suzuki certainly makes it a lot more feasible as well.
