There have still been tuna caught between Port Fairy and Portland, with the schools moving around quickly and often proving very flighty. The shelf produced yesterday with some good bottom fish being caught as well as a nice mako. Plenty of signs of life, i.e. baitfish, birds, dolphins, etc starting to show out at the shelf as well.
Here’s a couple from early afternoon today off Portland, rewarding Frank Bertone and Adrian Azzopardi’s persistence, with the Jaks lure getting the job done!
David Harrison got a few whiting inshore from Warrnambool Wednesday night, the biggest at 42 cm.
Tim Vincent has been getting a few estuary perch recently on poppers in the Hopkins river – biggest 34cm.
