Big news today with a 73.00kg tuna caught off Warrnambool by the crew aboard Nick Threlfall’s boat. They were headed out for a deep sea bottom fish, when they saw birds working, and put out a lure on the eggbeater setup with braid, hooked up and landed it after a 2.5hr fight.
Andrew Westlake, fishing off Port Fairy on the drift in 40m between the abalone farm and the water tower, kept a good schoolie and a mixed bag, released 4 gummies and plenty of pinkies.
Geoff Verhoeff had a great day off Port Fairy today, catching and releasing two ripper schoolies one 20kg and one about 30kg, both let go as they were breeding females, and kept 3 gummies about 5kg each, and let another 4 go.
Stacy Price fished Livingstons Bay in South Australia today for some nice calamari and garfish.
On Cassius Cray we headed out off Warrnambool and caught a couple of gummies, some Jackass Morwong (Tarakihi), and a couple of pinkies. Godfrey Strong joined us, and as always the friendly guys at Warrnambool Holiday Park looked after him for his accommodation.
